MapDotNet for ArcIMS continues to grow and still offers the same
quality sever controls and web services that allow developers and GIS
professionals to connect to ArcIMS and ArcSDE to rapidly build .NET
mapping applications. With new enhancements like the MapTableOfContents,
"AJAX" Integration and direct database drilldown querying, MapDotNet
for ArcIMS is still an integral part of your ESRI platform.
MapDotNet is the "Original" GIS Rapid Application Framework that
includes a suite of web applications, web services, class libraries, and
ASP.NET server controls that can bridge the skills of the Microsoft
Visual Studio .NET developer and the GIS professional. Using ESRI’s
ArcIMS and/or ArcSDE, MapDotNet is a suite of fully customizable
Internet mapping tools that allows the developer to easily and rapidly
create and deploy web enabled GIS web sites. These Internet mapping web
sites can be configured in minutes and allow for trouble-free, remote
administration.
The .NET Web Services
The Map Web Service is a .NET web service that acts
as a gateway to ArcIMS. The Map Web Service handles requests to and
responses from one or more ArcIMS servers. The Map Web Service allows
for centralized configuration of multiple web applications to multiple
GIS servers. Layers, field data, projections, and report configuration
are managed here.
The SDE Web Connector is a .NET web service that
allows you to insert, update and delete points, lines and simple polygon
features in your spatial data through ArcSDE. The web service provides a
robust and easy to use interface that is integrated with our MapDotNet
suite. A web application using MapDotNet may capture location or
boundary data, present data entered on an acetate layer for verification
and then insert that data directly into your spatial database.
Drag and Drop Server Controls
The MapDotNet Server Controls are a collection of ASP.NET Server
Controls that communicate with the Map Web Service. They allow you to
easily drag-n-drop controls on a web form to quickly and easily create a
custom map viewer for your ArcIMS map service in just a few minutes.
Creating the map viewer in Visual Studio .NET gives the developer the
flexibility to take the map viewer to another level of development not
possible before. Within just a few minutes, a map viewer can be created
and deployed to the Internet. This allows the developer to spend more
time on solutions to business problems within the organization and less
time on learning new technologies. It also allows the project to be
completely customized in any number of ways so the project can be
delivered on time and within budget.
